MNS B.Sc Nursing Admission via NEET: Eligibility, Shortlisting, Colleges and Commission

How the NEET score shortlists candidates for the four-year MNS B.Sc Nursing course, who can apply, what the interview and medical involve, and why no cut-off is quoted here.

MNS BSc Nursing is the four-year nursing degree taught at Armed Forces Medical Services colleges, and for admission the Medical Services use your NEET (UG) score to shortlist you before an interview and a medical. NTA’s NEET (UG) 2026 page says in so many words that MNS aspirants must qualify NEET. We could not find an official MNS cut-off list on the pages we read, so this guide publishes no cut-off figures and explains how to find one when it exists.

The Army’s own recruitment page for the service opens behind a verification step that we did not bypass, and the AFMC brochure for the current year was not downloadable when we checked on 12 October 2026. Everything below is limited to pages we could read. GS India Defence Academy is a private coaching academy and has no link with the Army, AFMC or NTA.

Is NEET compulsory for MNS B.Sc Nursing?

Yes. NTA’s NEET (UG) 2026 introduction says that MNS aspirants seeking admission to the BSc Nursing course at Armed Forces Medical Service hospitals for 2026 are required to qualify NEET, and that the NEET score will be used for shortlisting for the four-year course. NTA’s public notice of 9 February 2024 said the same for 2024. NEET alone does not give you a seat: it is the first filter.

NTA’s public notice dated 20 July 2026 says NEET (UG) 2026 was conducted on 21 June 2026 and that the result was declared on 16 July 2026. Students who sat that test and want the MNS route should therefore watch the AFMC nursing admission page and the Army’s recruitment page for the shortlist and interview schedule.

The older AFMC page refers to the 2018-19 session and tells readers to check the Army website for the next admissions, so the 50% and first-attempt conditions should be confirmed in the current brochure. AFMC’s current nursing admission page lists the BSc Nursing Course Admission 2025 information brochure, a flow chart for intake of students and an FAQ on relevant medical standards, with a helpline number printed on the page.

What is the selection process after NEET?

  1. NEET (UG). You appear for NEET, and the score is used to shortlist candidates for the MNS course.
  2. Interview. AFMC’s older page describes an interview at selected centres after the written stage. The current flow chart on the AFMC page shows the present order.
  3. Medical. The older page says candidates must be declared medically fit by a medical board of military medical officers, and merit-listed candidates are then called for the course.
  4. Course and commission. The four-year B.Sc Nursing course follows, with commissioning at the end.

The AFMC FAQ on medical standards is the document to read before you spend a year on preparation. Eyesight, height, weight and general health conditions can matter as much as marks, and a candidate who learns about a disqualifying condition at the medical has lost time that an early check-up would have saved.

What is the MNS NEET cut-off?

We have no official cut-off to report. Neither the NTA pages nor the AFMC pages we could read publish a category-wise MNS cut-off list, and web pages that quote one rarely link to a document. A number without a document is a rumour, and we would rather say so. Use the checklist below to find a figure you can trust.

  • Look for a shortlist or merit list on the AFMC nursing admission page or the Army’s recruitment page, and note the year printed on it.
  • Check that the list says what the number is: a NEET score, a rank or a percentile, and for which category.
  • Do not mix years. NEET papers differ, so a score from one year says little about the next.
  • When you cite a cut-off to a family member, say where you read it and which year it belongs to.

Where is the course taught?

AFMC’s College of Nursing at Pune is the college we could confirm. Its page lists a basic B.Sc Nursing course of four years with 40 seats, recognition by the Indian Nursing Council, affiliation with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune, as the parent hospital. Other colleges run by the Armed Forces Medical Services are named in the Army’s notices each year, which we could not read, so we do not list them.

What happens after the degree?

AFMC’s older page states that students undergoing the B.Sc Nursing training are granted permanent and short service commissions at a ratio of 60:40 based on merit, and that short-service students must sign a bond to serve in the Military Nursing Service for a minimum of five years after the course. Those figures come from a page that refers to 2018-19, so ask for the present terms in the current brochure before you commit. Pay and rank on commissioning are not stated on the pages we read, and we do not guess them.

How should a Class 11 or 12 student plan for NEET?

The National Medical Commission finalised the NEET (UG) 2026 syllabus in December 2025. It has 20 units in Physics, 20 in Chemistry and 10 in Biology. Our MNS syllabus and exam pattern guide lists all the unit names. Many students give Biology daily time from Class 11, because its ten units are broad, and add Physics numericals in short, regular sessions.

  • Finish the Class 11 and Class 12 board syllabus first. The NMC list is a list of units, and your textbooks cover them.
  • Keep a weekly test routine from Class 12 summer onward. NEET rewards accuracy under time pressure.
  • Book an eye and general health check-up early, using the AFMC medical standards FAQ as your guide.
  • Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 documents in one folder with copies, because the interview stage asks for originals.
