Results are the most quoted and least checked claim in coaching. A banner with a large number tells you nothing about who those candidates were, what they studied, or whether they ever sat in a class. GS India Defence Academy publishes results by a different rule: every entry must be one that you can check for yourself.
This page explains how we publish results, what each entry will show, and how you can verify any claim, ours or anybody else’s, in a few minutes.
How we publish results
An entry appears on this page only when all of the following are true.
- The candidate has agreed. We publish a name and result only with the candidate’s consent, or a parent’s consent where the candidate is under 18.
- The result is public. It can be found on an official merit list or a result notice issued by the body that conducted the selection.
- The course is stated. The entry says which course the candidate took with us, so that the result is not credited to the academy in general.
Each entry shows the candidate’s name, the exam and year, the service or institution they were selected for, the course they took with us, and a Verify link to the official source.
What you will not find here
We do not publish running totals of selections, percentages or claims that cannot be tied to a name on an official list. We do not use the photographs or names of candidates who did not study with us, and we do not describe a candidate as “ours” because they attended a single test or session.
Until entries meet these conditions, this page shows none. We would rather have a short page that is true than a long page that cannot be trusted. Verified entries appear below as soon as they are added.
How to verify any result claim
You can apply the same checks to any academy in a few minutes.
- Find the official list. Results of exams such as the NDA and CDS are published by the Union Public Service Commission on upsc.gov.in, and other bodies publish their own lists on their sites.
- Match the name and roll number. A real entry can be found on the list. A vague phrase such as “many selections” cannot.
- Ask what the candidate studied. A candidate who took a one-day test series did not take the academy’s full course, and the advertisement should say so.
- Ask whether the course was paid or free, and for how long. The Central Consumer Protection Authority’s guidelines on coaching advertisements expect these details to be disclosed with a rank claim.
Why we hold ourselves to this
The Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisement in Coaching Sector, 2024 set out what coaching advertisements may and may not say about selections and ranks. We follow the spirit of those rules, and we go further, because parents should not have to be investigators.
A student’s selection is the result of their own effort, their preparation and a good deal of competition. We are proud to take part in that effort. But we will not use a stranger’s success to sell you a seat.
What matters more than a number
If you are choosing an academy, the figure on a banner is the least useful thing to look at. More helpful signs are these:
- fees published openly, with the hostel and registration listed separately (see our Fee Structure);
- faculty introduced by name and role, with their consent (see the Faculty page);
- an academy that you can visit, with a hostel that you can see (see Hostel and Mess);
- the twelve questions in our checklist for choosing an academy.
Talk to us about your child’s preparation
If you would like to understand how we prepare students, the best step is a conversation. Share your number and a counsellor will call you back, explain the course that fits your child, and answer any question about how we handle results.
