The Army’s Common Entrance Examination (CEE) for Agniveer is an online objective test, held category by category, and negative marking applies. The Army sets the level of each paper by the qualification it asks for, Class 10 for General Duty and Class 12 for Technical and Clerk, and prints the full pattern in each year’s notice. Pages that quote one fixed Agniveer syllabus disagree with each other, so this guide states only what Army documents say.

What the Army documents we could read do not give is a per-trade list of subjects, the number of questions or the size of the penalty. Those are in the notice and the admit card of the year, and we will not print numbers we cannot trace to them.
What level is each paper pitched at?

How do the Navy and Air Force papers compare?
The Navy and Air Force publish their patterns in more detail, and they show how different the entries are. A candidate who prepares for the Army’s paper alone is not ready for either.
| Entry | Paper |
|---|---|
| Navy Agniveer SSR | Objective, bilingual; four sections (Science, Mathematics, English, General Awareness); 60 minutes; Class 12 standard; pass in each section and in aggregate. |
| Navy Agniveer MR | Objective, bilingual; two sections (Science and Mathematics, and General Awareness); 30 minutes; Class 10 standard. |
| Air Force, Science subjects | Physics 25, Mathematics 25 and English 20 questions: 70 questions in 60 minutes, as per the CBSE Class 12 syllabus. |
| Air Force, Other than Science | English 20 and Reasoning and General Awareness 30: 50 questions in 45 minutes. One mark for a correct answer, 0.25 deducted for a wrong one. |
| Coast Guard Navik and Yantrik, Stage I | 100 questions, one mark each, one hour, no negative marking. |
The Air Force question counts come from the candidate instructions on its recruitment portal, and the other figures from the Navy’s written examination page and the Coast Guard advertisement.
How should you prepare while the pattern is not confirmed?
- Pick one category and revise at its level. Do not mix General Duty and Technical material in the same week.
- Assume negative marking. Practise leaving a question when you are unsure, and track how many you get wrong in every test.
- Practise on a screen. The CEE is online, so a few timed tests on a computer are worth more than another book.
- Check your admit card for the number of questions and the duration as soon as it is live. The 2026 admit cards went live between 15 and 21 May, ahead of exams in June.
- Choose your language early. Prepare in the language you will take the paper in.

What should you note from the notice and admit card?
Because the Army prints the pattern in each year’s notice, the admit card is the document that settles every doubt. When it goes live, write down these points and plan the last month of revision around them.
| Point to note | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Category and date of your paper | The 2026 CEE ran across several dates by category, so your slot decides how many weeks you have. |
| Number of questions, marks per question and duration | This sets the time you can give each question, and it is the figure other websites quote differently. |
| Size of the negative mark | It tells you how freely you can guess. The Army says only that negative marking applies. |
| Language of the paper | The Army has offered the CEE in 13 languages, so choose the one you read fastest. |
| Reporting time and documents | Late arrival or a missing photo ID can cost the attempt, however well you have prepared. |
A good routine for the final four weeks is two timed full-length tests a week on a computer, one review day for every test, and short daily practice on your weakest topic. Keep a notebook of mistakes. Candidates who write down why an answer was wrong usually stop repeating the same error within a few weeks.
