Young men can join as an Airman in either the Technical and Non-Technical trades of the Air force. The Airman cadre provides opportunities for men (only men)with matriculate or below, 10+2 /Intermediate, graduates, Diploma holders and postgraduates in either of the three combatant groups i.e ‘X’, ‘Y’ or ‘Z’ of the technical and the non-technical trades. Candidates short listed after the initial selection procedure, are allotted a suitable trade and go through a rigorous training regimen at one of the training institutes(GS India Defence Academy). Thereafter, they are inducted and posted as Airmen at any of the Air Force Stations.
Indian Air Force (IAF) invites applications from unmarried male candidates for selection test to join as Airman in Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades.
Candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2/ with pass marks in Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 50% marks in overall aggregate. OR Three years Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile / Computer science / Instrumentation Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic / Institute with at least 50% marks.
17 to 22 Years.
Initial Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) will be provided at Airmen Training School, Belgaum (Karnataka) for 12 weeks. After it Trade Training will be provided.
Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) : those who pass written test will undertake Physical Fitness Test.
Interview : Those who pass both the written and PFT will be called for interview.
Educational For Group `Y` {Except Auto Tech GTI and IAF (P) Trades}. Passed Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination with Science Arts or Commerce subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and pass in each subject or 03 years Diploma in any stream of Engineering from a Government recognised Polytechnic/Institute shall be permitted to appear for Group `Y` {Except Auto Tech GTI and IAF (P) trades in IAF}. OR
Should have passed a 3 year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology) with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate from a Govt. recognized Polytechnic Institute.
Note : Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as mentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate/10+2/equivalent (For example 49.9% should NOT be rounded off to 50%).
